The Stanley Collection is a series of architectural objects that explore the interplay between form and function, light and shadow, material and its reflection. Each object in the collection originates from a common form, whose subtle structural variations define the object’s function. A nod to Louis Sullivan, who famously asserted that form follows function, the Stanley collection playfully inverts this principle with objects where function follows form. The collection includes three lighting fixtures and a multifunctional stool which can be converted into a coffee table. The monolithic architecture is reminiscent of the enigmatic monolith in Stanley Kubrick’s film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
